Paige Talley studied piano performance and music education at Virginia Tech. Focusing on elementary and choral education, she has accompanied vocal soloists and choirs, in addition to her own performances at events in her local area. Paige earned her degree in music as well as a degree in sociology with a concentration in africana studies from Virginia Tech. Her desire to see herself in the music she teaches, learns, and the students she supports inspire the empathetic and genuine connections she makes with students. Her interest in education access led to her earning a masters degree in sociology and education with a concentration in education policy from Columbia University.
Paige’s educational background and personal story inspire her to actively consider the intersections of race and ethnicity, socioeconomic status, gender and sexuality, disability status, and other factors that impact students’ experiences in schools. Her former administrative role at multiple major universities made her adept at working with diverse populations of students and supporting the needs of international students.
Paige truly has a heart for serving others and is passionate about achieving equity in education. Paige started Paige Talley Music Studio to provide community-based opportunities to expose young people to music and to provide a safe space to boost the learning that students currently do in public and private schools. Through Paige Talley Music Studio, and as the owner of Penned & Planted LLC, Paige seeks to respond to the unique needs of Black and Brown students, students with disabilities, students who attend low-resource schools with limited music programs.
